International Women’s Day 2024 – #InspireInclusion

International Women’s Day is an opportunity to champion the power of women’s voices and drive positive change.

We spoke to women across the the University who all have one thing in common – an unwavering pursuit of equality. We asked them why they thought it was important to mark IWD, who inspires them and what they love about being a woman.

Why do you think it is important to mark International Women’s Day?

Marking International Women’s Day is crucial as it serves as a reminder of the ongoing struggle for gender equality and celebrates the achievements and contributions of women worldwide. It provides an opportunity to raise awareness about issues such as gender discrimination, violence against women, and the need for equal opportunities in various spheres of life.

Is there a woman who has inspired you personally or professionally?

My mother has been a constant source of inspiration for me, both personally and professionally. Her resilience, strength, and unwavering support have shaped me into the person I am today. She has always encouraged me to pursue my dreams and taught me the importance of hard work, compassion, and determination.

What is one thing that you would like to see done to help further equality for women?

One thing I would like to see done to help further equality for women is to provide more opportunities for women to excel in the workplace and break free from traditional gender roles. This means ensuring equal pay for equal work, promoting women’s leadership and representation in decision-making positions, and creating supportive policies and environments that enable women to balance their roles as both caregivers and professionals. By empowering women to thrive in all aspects of life, we can create a more equitable and inclusive society for future generations.
